In Friends, Mr Savethebrain reinvents the cult imagery of the iconic American TV series, transforming it through his Neo-Pop language into a unique visual ritual. It is a party suspended between dream and reality, where the protagonists are transfigured into animal creatures embodying the identities of contemporary art legends. The familiarity of the sitcom becomes pure artistic wonder: unexpected, vibrant, irresistible.
Like a shared dream, the viewer is drawn into the party, immersed in a contagious energy that evokes freedom, lightness, inclusion, and a sense of belonging. In this visual space, the animals are not decorative metaphors but witnesses of authenticity and guides of an alternative morality. Friends is not merely to be observed—it is to be lived, breathed, and desired. Every gesture, visual reference, ear, muzzle, and tail becomes an invitation to surrender and rediscover—through pop lightness—the depth of the most sincere emotions.
Chandler Bing becomes Takashi Murakami’s Doraemon: ironic and smiling, waving his arm with playful curiosity, as if testing whether the mouse can truly see. His feline gaze invites the viewer not to take anything for granted, and not to remain blind to diversity, change, and identity.
Phoebe Buffay embodies Banksy’s rat: eccentric and unpredictable. She wears fake 3D glasses—not to avoid discovering the surprise her friends prepared, but to symbolize those who choose not to see transformation and reject diversity.
Rachel Green becomes Mr. Brainwash’s orange Balloon Dog: affectionate, luminous, discreet—participating in joy without ever overpowering it. Ross Geller interprets Keith Haring’s Mickey Mouse, hiding a gift behind his back: a symbol of sincere love, empathy, and emotional connection.
Behind them, a constellation of multicolored polka dots inspired by Yayoi Kusama evokes crystal balls and the psychedelic lights of a timeless nightclub. Every element forms part of an emotional architecture that speaks of participation, lightness, and unity. Joey Tribbiani transforms into KAWS’ Tweety: the absolute protagonist of the piece. He reveals his sexual identity, appearing for the first time with marked mascara and made-up eyes, while gloves still conceal the nail polish beneath. He is happy, emotional—a proud coming out. In his authenticity and joy, he inspires each of us to live without fear.
Joey’s happiness becomes a universal invitation: to live freely, without masks and without judgment.
